Meditation Practice: Universal Consciousness
A session led by the Warden at Shanti Sadan
If we practise meditation regularly, we find we have a great inner support that helps us in many ways. For meditation becomes a source of strength, a way to peace and a means of expanding our consciousness. This leads to fulfilment independent of outer aids and stimuli.
All these qualities are in fact to be found within our own being, but the true peace, strength and expansion only come to light when we learn how to withdraw our attention—for a time—from everything outside ourselves and turn within, as if returning to our true home. And then, in that turning within, something more is necessary. Through our practices, we learn how to quieten the mental activity, and awaken our sensitivity to the deeper reality or presence that underlies it.
