These are the practices done at the weekly guided meditation sessions during October 2017

1. Inner preparation
We sit in calmness and reverence for the reality within our own being and around us, as the real being of the whole universe. And inwardly we bow to that absolute principle with which we are at one in reality. [About one minute.]
2. Breathing practice
Breathe slowly, drawing up the in-breath as if from the navel to the point between the eyebrows. As you breathe, fill the mind with the thought “I am”. [About four minutes]
This visualization is to be done in three stages:
First, visualize a bright light shining in the heart centre [about two minutes]
Then, see it spreading to fill the whole body [about two minutes]
Finally, see the light shining forth in all directions, peace, illumination and compassion [about two minutes]
4. Meditation on a text
I AM THE LIGHT THAT REVEALS THE PASSING THOUGHTS
I AM SELF-ILLUMINED, INFINITE, ONE IN ALL.
Repeat the text silently a few times until the meaning is grasped, then focus the attention that. If the mind wanders off, firmly and gently bring it back to the text and them meaning. [About 6 minutes.]
5. Closing offering
Extend thoughts of unconditional goodwill to all. [One to two minutes]
Listen to a Meditation Session with these Practices
Here is a recording of a meditation session including these practices, led by the Warden at Shanti Sadan.
This version has been abridged, and we could follow it for our own daily practice.
This is the full recording, with an introduction and commentary. You may find it helpful to listen to this version at least once.
For more about doing meditation see this section on daily meditation practice.
